Normal Skin: What Makes It Ideal and How to Maintain

Every girl dreams about having normal skin and a balanced texture. Many of them are always puzzled about whether such a skin type exists. Normal skin is not very oily or very dry on usual days. Some regular skin features are balanced oil production, moisture content, and smooth texture. With little care, one can maintain normal skin and enhance its glow.

Let's understand what it means to have normal skin and how to maintain its glow.

Knowing Normal Skin Type:
This well-balanced skin type is characterized by smooth texture, well-hydration, minimal pigmentation and acne.
Enough moisture and hydration: sebaceous glands in normal skin produce enough oil and sebum to keep it hydrated and glowing. It prevents excess oil production and prevents oily and greasy texture.

Skin complexion:
Normal skin will have enough skin tone and the correct complexion.

Smooth skin texture:
Normal skin will give your fingers a smooth and soft feel.

Invisible pores:
If you observe closely, you will barely see open pores and blemishes.

Sensitivity:
Normal skin is usually less sensitive and won't cause outbreaks or acne issues, unlike oily and mixed skin types.

Normal skin has a pH level between 4.7 to 5.75. This protects the skin from any infection and blemishes.

How to identify Normal skin type:

Before labelling any skin type as normal or oily, running a quick test and identifying the skin type is better. The very first experience that can be done is a preface test. Wash your face and wipe it with a soft towel, or let it dry. Now, if your skin does not show any dryness or oil production on the cheeks or nose, consider it normal skin. Also, try doing a bloating paper test. Observe when you wake up with the regular bloating paper on your face. It is a typical skin type if very little or no oil is absorbed on the paper.

Factors that are harmful to Oily Skin:

Although normal skin is balanced and comes with minimum issues, one must be aware of certain conditions, habits and products that can affect standard skin type negatively.

  1. Chemical Products: strong chemical-based products like cleansers, scrubs, and ointments can be harmful. Such products can strip away moisture and oil and disrupt skin texture.
  2. Dehydration: less water consumption and insufficient essential oils in the diet can lead to skin dryness and affect normal skin.
  3. No Protection from UV rays: Excess exposure to UV or sun rays results in skin ageing. This can also lead to increased skin damage for the individual.
  4. Poor nutrition
  5. Stress and sleep deprivation
  6. Environmental Pollutants

Make sure you maintain the Normal Skin and Its Glow:

If you feel that having normal skin is a blessing, maintaining it is also essential. Routine and daily habits can allow anyone to maintain normal skin. Here are a few tips to keep the glow on your skin and balance it!

  1. Regular cleansing: Sometimes, just washing the skin with normal water helps. Use chemical-free cleansers and natural remedies to cleanse pores.
  2. Use the right amount of moisturizer: Hydration is essential; for normal skin, it is important to use enough. Overdoing it or underuse will affect skin moisture levels and texture. Hyaluronic acid-based moisturizers are an excellent choice.
  3. Sunscreen: using broad-spectrum sunscreen is good for your skin. Look for sunscreen lotions with an SPF of more than 30. One can also look for products fortified with vitamin C for better protection.
  4. Exfoliation: use it carefully. Excess exfoliation can harm your skin. Use chemical-free exfoliations and scrubs. Also, keep the frequency low; using it once or twice a week is good enough for normal skin.
  5. Focus on a balanced diet: Keep antioxidants, vitamins, minerals, and amino acids in your daily diet. This ensures the internal nourishment required for your skin. Add nutrients such as zinc, selenium, and vitamin E-rich foods. Also, drink enough water to contribute to skin hydration.
  6. Take control of sleep and stress: these two factors affect your skin directly. Get enough sleep for 7-8 hours every night and avoid stress as far as possible. Focus on mindfulness and meditation. This helps in improving the glow of your skin.
